Pad Thai (Thailand)

Pad Thai is made of rice noodles mixed with tapioca flour, which are stir-fried with eggs and firm chopped tofu. It’s flavored with fish sauce, tamarind juice, dried shrimp, red pepper, palm sugar and garlic or shallots. Pad Thai is usually served with lime wedges and chopped roasted peanuts. Although fried rice noodles were originally introduced to Thailand from China centuries ago, the dish was invented in the mid-20th century. People from all over the world started to enjoy Pad Thai. In 2011, it was ranked by CNN as one of the “50 most delicious foods in the world”.

Paella has got its roots in Valencia, Spain. It is an ancient dish recreated with a modern touch in the present times. The original recipe contains white rice with green beans, meat (rabbit, chicken, duck or seafood), butterbeans, snails, spices such as rosemary. Another very common but seasonal ingredient is artichokes. Cooked in olive oil in a pan, the dish is full of flavours and hence one of the best dishes in the world.

Italy’s lasagna is one of the oldest pasta but has become popular only in the present times. The ingredients itself sound mouthwatering – meats, pasta, vegetables, tomato sauce, and lots and lots of cheese. Pasta, made of very wide, flat sheets is combined with the other ingredients and then baked in an oven. Lasagne is loved by people of all ages and is dish ideal for any occasion or celebration.

If not tried, you must have heard of Ramen at least once in your life. Ramen is a Japanese dish made of wheat noodles and served in the broth along with vegetables and meat. Ramen comes in several flavours, from tangy to spicy, depending on the flavour of the broth. Every region in Japan has it’s own. Tonkotsu, a popular style of ramen includes pork bone broth and the miso ramen, another popular dish originated in Hokkaido.

Tacos are the national dish of Mexico, dating back to the Mexican silver mines of the 18th century, when the word taco referred to gunpowder that was wrapped in a piece of paper and inserted into rocks. Today, the word is widely known to signify the street food and fast food item in Mexico. Tacos are made of folded tortillas and come filled with various ingredients: rice, cheese, meats, vegetables and condiments.

Crunchy on the outside and juicy within, fried chicken, as the name suggests, is a dish consisting of chicken pieces deeply fried, giving it a crisp coating. The chicken is then seasoned with herbs and spices. The spicier, the better. Excess flour is used to make the crust thicker. Fried chicken is practically the most loved dish in the United States. The trend caught on and the dish is now one of the best dishes in the world.

Sushi prepared with vinegared rice and a wide range of ingredients including seafood, vegetables, and sometimes fruits. Sushi tastes best when served with wasabi, pickled ginger, and soy sauce. A popular garnish for this dish is Daikon radish. The type of fish in it defines a sushi’s taste – tuna, eel, and Salmon tend to have a light flavour while octopus flavoured sushi is generally strong in taste.
